Our teen mentor program is for kids who need a family to commit to them not just for the hosting period, but to establish a relationship and continue it for at least the next several years as a long distance support system. Kids age out of their orphanages at 16 and are often completely at a loss as to how to navigate life because they are so young, have no family support, and have not had positive parental role models. A mentor family is one who will commit to providing loving guidance and emotionally supporting a child as they transition from their teens in an orphanage to young adulthood in the real world. Teens coming for hosting on the mentor program would greatly benefit from learning life skills like managing money, conflict resolution, emotional regulation, goal setting, long term planning, cooking, and more. The goal of this program is to match families willing to commit to providing life coaching, open non-judgmental communication, and emotional support for the long term with kids who are aging out of their orphanages in the near future, and will soon be navigating life alone.
